| The Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God and it is the basis of our statement of faith. The |
| church subscribes to the doctrinal statement of the "Articles of Faith". We band ourselves |
| together as a body of Baptist believers in Jesus Christ personally committed to sharing the |
| good news of salvation to lost mankind. The ordinances of the church are Baptism and the |
| Lord's Supper. |
|
| A. The Holy Scriptures 1611 King James |
|
| We believe the Holy Scriptures. Both Old and New Testament to be verbally inspired |
| Word of God, authoritative, without error and God-breathed (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter |
| 1:20-21; Acts 1:16; I Corinthians 2:13) |
|
| B. The Triune God Head |
|
| We believe in one Triune God, existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, |
| eternal in being, identical in nature, equal in power and glory, having the same attributes |
| and perfections. (Deuteronomy 6:4; II Corinthians 13:14) |
|
| C. The Depravity of Man |
|
| We believe that man was directly created by God in His own image and likeness, but |
| that man fell into sin. The entire human race became alienated from God, and is eternally |
| lost. Thus all people in succeeding generations are born with a sinful nature and cannot |
| be saved apart from the grace of God. |
| (Genesis 1:26-27; Isaiah 4:6; Psalm 51:5; Romans 3:22-23; 5:12; Titus 3:5) |
|
| D. The Personality of Satan |
|
| We believe in the personality of Satan, that he is the author of sin and the cause of |
| man's fall; that he is the open, and declared enemy of God and man. (Genesis 3:1-15; |
| Job 1:6-7; Isaiah 14:12-17; Matthew 4:2-11; Revelation 20:10) |
|
| E. Person and Work of Christ |
|
| We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without |
| ceasing to be God, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, |
| in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man; that He accomplished our |
| redemption through His sacrificial death on the cross; that our redemption is made sure |
| to us by His literal physical resurrection from the dead. (John 1:1-2, 14; Matthew 1:18-25; |
| Romans 3:24-25; 4:25; I Peter 1:3-5); that He ascended into heaven where He is now |
| exalted at the right hand of God, where as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of |
| Representative Intercessor and Advocate. |
|
| F. The Personality and Work of the Holy Spirit |
|
| We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, indwells all |
| believers when he is saved bringing them into the body of Christ, seals them unto the |
| day of redemption and that it is the responsibility of every believer to be filled with the |
| Holy Spirit. (John 16:8; Romans 8:9; I Corinthians 12:12; Ephesians 1:23) |
|
| G. Salvation |
|
| We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought by grace and received by personal |
| faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed for the forgiveness of |
| our sins. (Ephesians 2:8-10; John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7; I Peter 1:18-19) |
|
| H. The Eternal Security of Believers |
|
| We believe that all born again believers are eternally secure in Christ, and cannot be |
| lost again. This does not give the believer a license of liberty for an occasion to the |
| flesh. (John 5:24; I John 5:11-13; John 10:27-30; Romans 8:1; 38-39; Ephesians 4:30) |
|
| I. The Church is a Living Organism |
|
| We believe that a scriptural Church is a group of baptized believers bound together for |
| the purpose of worship and carrying out the Great Commission. Concord Baptist |
| Church is an independent, democratic, self-governing body, having Christ alone as its |
| head, the Holy Spirit as its guide and the Bible, King James 1611 version, as the only |
| rule of faith and practice. (Acts 2:41-42; Matthew 28:19-20) |
|
| J. Spiritual Gifts |
|
| We believe that God the Holy Spirit bestowed spiritual gifts to believers in this |
| dispensation and that the apostolic age of signs, including tongues, ceased with the |
| ministry of the Apostles (I Corinthians 13:8-10). We believe that the gifts of Evangelists, |
| pastors and teachers are for the ministry and perfection of the church body. (Ephesians |
| 4:11). We further believe that God hears and answers prayers according to His own |
| will for the sick and afflicted. (I John 5:14-15; James 5:13-16) |
|
| K. Life of Separation |
|
| We believe that all the redeemed ones are called into a life of separation from all worldly |
| and sinful practices and associations. This church shall not at any time become a |
| member, approve or support the Ecumenical Movement of the Charismatic Movement, |
| or Neo-Orthodoxy, Neo-Evangelicalism, Hypercalvinism, and the New Age Movement. |
| (II Corinthians 6:14-18; Galatians 5:19-21; Romans 12:1-2; Amos 3:3; Ephesians 5:11) |
|
| L. The Believers Two Natures |
|
| We believe that all born again believers posses two natures, with provision made for |
| the new nature to be victorious through the power of the Holy Spirit. The old nature is |
| not done away with in this life. (II Corinthians 5:17; Romans 6:6; I Corinthians 2:14) |
|
| M. The Blessed Hope |
|
| We believe that the next great event in the fulfillment of prophecy will be the coming |
| of the Lord Jesus in the air to receive to Himself the dead in Christ and believers who are |
| alive at His coming, otherwise known as the Rapture and Translation of the Church. |
| (I Corinthians 15:51-57; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Titus 2:11-14) |
|
| N. The Tribulation |
|
| We believe the Rapture of the Church will be followed by the fulfillment of Israel's |
| seventieth week, the latter half is the time of Jacob's trouble, the great tribulation. (Daniel |
| 9:27; Jeremiah 30:7; Matthew 24:15-21; Revelation 6) |
|
| O. The Second Coming of Christ |
|
| We believe that the great tribulation will be climaxed by the (premillennial) return of the |
| Lord Jesus Christ to the earth with His saints to set up His kingdom. (Zechariah 14:4-11; |
| Matthew 24:15-25; II Thessalonians 1:7-10; Revelations 20:6) |
|
| P. The Eternal State |
|
| We believe that the soul and human spirit of those who have believed in the Lord Jesus |
| Christ for Salvation do at death immediately pass into His presence and there remain in |
| the conscious bliss until the resurrection of the body at His coming, when soul, human |
| spirit and body reunited shall be with Him forever in glory; but the souls of the unbelievers |
| remain after death in conscious misery until final judgment of the great white throne at |
| the close of millennium, when soul and body reunited shall be cast into the lake of fire; |
| not to be annihilated, but to be punished with everlasting fire. (Luke 16:19-26; |
| 23:43; II Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 1:23; II Thessalonians 1:7-9; Jude 6-7; Revelation |
| 20:11-15) |
|
| Q. Church Ordinances |
|
| We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted the ordinances of baptism by immersion |
| and the Lord's Supper to be observed until His return. (Matthew 28:19-20; I Corinthians |
| 11:23-26) |
